Air Quality in India
Air pollution is a major concern in India. National Air Quality Index (AQI) was launched in 2014 to disseminate information on air quality in an easily understandable form for the general public.
AQI has six categories of air quality. These are: Good, Satisfactory, Moderately Polluted, Poor, Very Poor and Severe.
The formulation of the index was an initiative under Swachh Bharat Mission.

About AQI
Air Quality Index (AQI) is a standardized measure of air pollution levels. It aggregates data from multiple pollutants into a single number, making it easier for the public to understand the air quality in their area.
AQI categories range from "Good" (0-50) to "Severe" (401+), with corresponding health advisories. Monitoring AQI helps individuals take precautions to protect their health, especially on days with poor air quality.
